Caraguatatuba: TECNA's most important project in Brazil
PETROBRAS awarded SCHAHIN the Monteiro Lobato (UTGCA) gas treatment and gasoline stabilization plant adequacy and expansion project in Caraguatatuba city, while TECNA was contracted as the technologist and plant supplier. Complementary SCHAHIN gave the TECNA's contract part, so that TECNA's direct client will be PETROBRAS.
This project is strategic for PETROBRAS and for the Dilma Rousseff government because to date, the offshore gas produced in the Lula area (ex Tupi) is being burned due to the lack of distribution infrastructure. In this regard a pipeline is already being constructed to transport the gas to the Mexilhão field, which is already connected, so that, once expanded, the UTCGA will process the hydrocarbons produced in the first offshore platform of Brazilian pre-salt reservoirs in the state of Sao Paulo.
This project will help reinforce TECNA's skills to PETROBRAS and the Brazilian oil and gas industry.
The project includes a 6 MMSCMD dew point unit and two natural gas condensate and LPG recovery processing units, each of 2400 CMD, so that the plant will produce commercial quality natural gas, LPG and stabilized gasoline. It also includes a number of modifications to the existing units to suit the pre-salt gas requirements.
TECNA´s scope includes:
- Basic and detail engineering for a new plant (UPCGN 2, UAPO 3 Y UPCGN 3).
- Basic and detail engineering for the existing plant adecuacy.
- New plant provision (UPCGN 2, UAPO 3 Y UPCGN 3), including piping interconnection materials.
- Control system for the new plant (UPCGN 2, UAPO 3 Y UPCGN 3) and integration with the existing plant.
- Precommissioning and commissioning.
- Start up assistance.
The plant is located on the Atlantic coast near the Caraguatatuba city, an area intended to become a Brazilian offshore subsalt reservoir development pole.
This great challenge and strategic project for TECNA's consolidation in Brazil will require the participation of all TECNA's areas to meet the contract objectives and the global growth sustainability.
